The following information outlines the core NLP Master Practitioner Course content with some nlp tips on how it can be applied to make a difference in what you do.

Meta Programs Elicitation, Calibration and Utilisation

Meta programs are the deepest unconscious filters we have on our perceptions and behaviours. Understanding meta programs can help with appreciating how you create your own map of the world, and how others do it.  You can use this knowledge in self acceptance, creating motivation or just communicating more effectively.

LAB Profile (developed by Shelle Rose Charvet). People communicate in particular ways through observable thought and motivation patterns.  The Language and Behavior Profile (LAB Profile) is a way of structuring how people and groups experience the world allowing us to notice and respond with just the right Influencing Language.  It is different for each person and quickly gives us an understanding of how people get motivated, how they make decisions and various ways they process information.

Belief Systems & Change

Beliefs are those convictions we trust as being true.  They are statements about our internal representations or how we believe the world is.  They are generalisations and act as filters on our experience of the world.  Beliefs are attached or related to a certain values in clusters and may form a Belief System.  Beliefs are not a statement of truth or fact, though we sometimes act is if they are.  They are all learned and can be added to or changed.  Core beliefs are those which are usually deeply held and are supported by other beliefs to maintain them.

Sleight of Mouth

Sleight of Mouth (S.O.M) patterns were developed by Robert Dilts through listening to various verbal "reframings" that Richard Bandler created spontaneously during seminars.  The S.O.M. patterns are made up of categories and distinctions through which key beliefs can be established, shifted or changed through language.

They can be characterised as verbal reframes which influence beliefs and the mental maps from which beliefs have been formed.  The term "Sleight of Mouth" is drawn from the notion of "Sleight of Hand".  The term sleight comes from an Old Norse word meaning "crafty", "cunning", "artful" or "dexterous".  Sleight of Hand is a type of magic done by close-up card magicians.  The verbal patterns of sleight of mouth have a similar sort of 'magical' quality because they can often create dramatic shifts in perception and the assumptions upon which particular assumptions are based.  Dilts identified 14 S.O.M. patterns in total and named each in the book 'Sleight of Mouth - The Magic of Conversational Belief Change'.

Values and Value Systems

People will make extraordinary efforts to meet their values.  They provide the motives for behaviours explained by phrases like 'It seemed the decent thing to do', or 'I did it because I want to live with myself in peace'.  The more deeply held a value, the less consciously is its holder aware of it. Values include deeply held beliefs about what is right and wrong, good and bad, acceptable or unacceptable conduct, and about what is worth wanting, working for and making an effort to keep in life.  A value has a state attached to it, in fact, when a value is stated as a word like, honesty, then this can be thought of as an anchor to a state.  Values are things we move away from or toward and are used by us in 2 ways; firstly they are what motivates us to take action and secondly they are how we judge good and bad, right or wrong after an experience.

Beyond Words

The Beyond Words model was created by John Overdurf and Julie Silverthorn as a way of languaging change through the quantum field.  It is a conversational change model and will give you skills in the most advanced language patterns.  The basic premise of the model is that Reality is a Construction and we create what we observe.  The primary way in which we make observations and measurements is through language. Language is secondary to experience, but it is recursive (it directionalises our observations and therefore our creations, our reality, it has energy and creates and transforms energy). Beyond words is a way of using language to take people off their map and into direct experience to create rapid transformation and change and combines hypnotic language, embedded commands with anchoring techniques to give you personal mastery in using language to create change at a deeper level.

Conversational Coaching Model for the Unconscious Mind

Based on the HNLP Coaching Model created by John Overdurf and Julie Silverthorn, this approach is a must for all coaches who wish to work in a more conversational way.  It combines traditional NLP patterns (including anchoring techniques and advanced submodalities processing as well as more basic skills like being able to break state) with hypnosis and traditional coaching approaches to create both conscious and unconscious change.  For anyone wanting to become more elegant in nlp coaching this is a straightforward yet powerful framework that gives the coach many options to facilitate lasting change with clients.

Modeling I

Modeling I is the replication of skills by copying physiology exactly.  It works for skills that can be replicated from very closely observing a person or video and does not include talking to the model.  As an NLP Master Practitioner this is an essential skill set as it comes from the roots of NLP and its creation by Richard Bandler and John Grinder.  In order to truly complete NLP modeling the modeler must enter a "know nothing" state where all sensory information is received and passed directly to the unconscious with as little filtering as possible.  Modeling I was what Bandler and Grinder primarily used to model Fritz Perls, Virginia Satir and Milton Erickson.

Modelling II (Wyatt Woodsmall)

Modelling II is the replication of excellent behaviour by observing and questioning the exemplar to discover their Beliefs, Rules of thumb, Values, Representations and Internal Strategies.  The modeller need not necessarily be able to replicate the results of the exemplar in order to create the model.Modelling II is what Wyatt Woodsmall has successfully used to coach the US Olympic Diving Team and US Army Recruits in Pistol Shooting.

Time Based Techniques and using Time Line Therapy

Time lines are a metaphor for how we store our memories.  They go back to the writings of William James in 1890 and came to NLP through the sub-modalities work of Richard Bandler and later Steve and Connirae Andreas and others. Their use was developed fully by Tad James and Wyatt Woodsmall in "Time Line Therapy and The Basis of Personality".  These processes provide elegant and rapid ways of re-solving limiting decisions and unwanted emotions to create therapeutic change that is lasting as well as offering opportunities to combine existing nlp patterns (e.g. fast phobia cure) with a time based approach.

Presenting and Sequencing Training using the 4-Mat System

The 4MAT System provides for understanding the core elements of learning, and provides guidance in how to use these elements to improve your presentations.  4MAT instruction strengthens planning and appeals to ALL learners in turn.  The 4MAT Method is a natural cycle for delivering learning of any kind in a way that connects to learners, provides relevant information, gives opportunities to practice and develop skill and allows for creative application of the material learned.  Ideal for anyone who desires to become an NLP trainer in the future or nlp master practitioners who are involved in teaching, training or instruction and essential for the nlp master practitioner who may be called upon to share nlp with friends or colleagues.

Beyond Goals

Beyond Goals is a way of considering goals using the states that are associated with the actualisation of them, not the need to achieve them.  It offers a way to help someone consider what is it they want when they are being all of who they are in the way they want to be and allows them  to create ecological goals without attachment, knowing that they can be in the end state now. It can be used for making decisions, setting goals and deciding how to approach and what steps to take next. As a nlp coach this is a valuable skills set to offer a new approach to one of the most common coaching outcomes.

Becoming an NLP Master Practitioner is a journey into communication mastery and excellence in discovering and utilising patterns. It is not only for those who want to extend their skills beyond NLP Practitioner but also for anyone who desires to become more elegant and sophisticated in their use of language and communication. Becoming an NLP Master Practitioner is a voyage into personal growth and transformation giving you advanced skills and the confidence to apply and use your learnings to improve what you do.
